Falls City Parent Child Center Earns National Accreditation
03/13/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City Public School District’s pre-school program has been accredited by a national organization.  The Parent-Child Center, located at North Elementary School, received high marks from the accreditation agency, the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Parent-Child Center teacher Stacy Vitosh spoke to the Falls City Board of Education Monday night about the accreditation process.
She said the process took seven months, beginning with a formal application, a parent and staff survey, and concluding with an on-site visit this past January.  The center was rated on ten criteria.  Vitosh said the on-site evaluator visited her classroom and spent much of her time going through a portfolio to determine how well the center meets the standards.
The PCC received a 100-percent score in nine of ten areas, and a 90-percent score in the other.
The accreditation is for five years, through July 1, 2018.  Vitosh said the Falls City Parent-Child Center is one of just 59 centers in Nebraska that’s accredited by the NAEYC.
