( KMZA )-- A Marysville woman sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison for the June 2011 shooting death of her husband has filed a motion seeking to withdraw her plea in the case.
In her motion filed in Marshall County District Court , Amanda “ Marina” Baynton cites inadequate counsel by her defense attorney.
Baynton pleaded no contest a year ago to charges of second-degree murder and aggravated assault as part of a plea agreement..
She was convicted of killing her husband, Derek, on June 8th, 2011 at the couple’s home in Marysville.
District Judge John Weingart has set a hearing on Baynton’s motion for July 9th.
He also dismissed Baynton’s former public defender, Steve Kraushaar of Marysville, and appointed a new attorney, Judd Herbster of Topeka, to represent her.
