Falls City School Board Approves District Goals
03/12/2013

(KTNC) - The Falls City Board of Education approved a revised list of district goals Monday night.  The goals were worked out during the Board’s February 23rd Planning Workshop.
All the goals fall under the over-arching goal of raising student achievement.
Additions to previous district goals include developing and adopting teacher and principal evaluation models; mentoring new teachers during their first year of employment; increasing collaboration with local law enforcement and fire departments to improve crisis preparedness; and find ways to expand the participation of boys and girls in school activities.
The board also approved the first reading of a policy pertaining to the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Act of 2004.
In his report, Superintendent Tim Heckenlively informed the board that a maintenance service agreement for the district’s nine boilers had been finalized with Plibrico (ply-brick’-oh) Mechanical.  The contract is effective on May 1st.
A turf maintenance program for the football field at Jug Brown Stadium has also been finalized with Pro Grass.  The company will inspect the field annually and take steps with the goal of extending the life of the artificial turf.
Heckenlively said the maintenance program will extend the field’s warranty, which otherwise would expire this fall.
