Everest Farmer Wins $5,000
03/10/2013

(KNZA)--When the Board of Education for USD 430 meets for their regular session Monday evening, a special donation will be accepted by the leaders of the South Brown County Schools.

That comes as Everest resident Dedra Bunck is selected as the winner of $5,000 in the America’s Farmers Grow Communities competition.

Sponsored by the Monsanto fund, Grow Communities allows farmers the opportunity to win a 25-hundred-dollar donation for their favorite local nonprofit organizations.  However, in an effort to support those counties declared disaster areas due to drought by the USDA, winners in those counties-including Bunck-were able to double their donation.

Brown County earned the disaster declaration, giving Bunck the chance to split her $5,000 and make two donations.  She did just that, and chose to give her winnings to Horton High School and the Willis All-Stars 4-H Club.

Bunck will be joined by representatives from the high school, the 4-H club and Monsanto for a check presentation.

That’s planned to happen at 7:00 Monday evening during the regular meeting of the USD 430 Board of Education which begins at 6:00.
