The Kansas Soybean Commission (KSC) will conduct a regular meeting Thursday, March 14, at the Kansas Soybean Building in Topeka. It will begin at 8 a.m.
During that meeting, the commissioners will discuss potential nominees for the United Soybean Board, and they will submit candidates' names to the U.S. Department of Agriculture in July. The Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act authorized the national board, and the secretary of agriculture selects appointees from the soybean farmers that qualified state soybean boards nominate. The appointees will serve three-year terms beginning in December. Eligible farmers should call 877-KS-SOYBEAN (877-577-6923) for more details or to express their interest by March 13.
The commission also will discuss current and future research projects, market-development activities, educational programs, and administrative items. To suggest additional topics for deliberation or to obtain a complete agenda or instructions for calling into the meeting, contact KSC Administrator Kenlon Johannes at johannes@kansassoybeans.org or call the Kansas Soybean office.
