(KNZA)--Numerous concerns are received by the Brown County Sheriff's office regarding a telephone call circulating around the area.
The callers claim to be State Troopers and request a monthly donation for the Trooper's Association.
According to some who have received the call, the caller is equipped with personal information, such as names of family members, and uses high pressure tacticts in an attempt to gain the money.
The Troopers Association is separate from the Kansas Highway Patrol, which forbids telemarketers from representing themselves as troopers or law enforcement.
If someone receives the solicitation, they are asked to get the callers name and telephone number, then notify Mitch Mellick at the Kansas State Troopers Association, 785-234-4488 or 800-550-5782.
