(KAIR) -- A Jefferson County North student is looking to keep filling the floor of bedroom to capacity with food in an effort to help supply local food pantries.
Twelve year old Colby Weishaar of Nortonville is conducting “Operation Kick Me Out of My Bedroom.”
He says the opportunity came up to help when it came time for a 4-H service project and he started collecting non-perishable items in September 2012.

The seventh grader will continue to collect items until June and use the money collected to purchase more food for the Pantry of Hope in Nortonville, Valley Falls Food Pantry and God’s Storehouse in Meriden.
He says he’s already surpassed his initial collection goal.

Colby says he was inspired to collect after receiving a letter in the mail last fall from the newly opened Pantry of Hope, asking for donations.
His mother, Bridget, also says Colby did the project in honor of former area 4-H community service leader Dee Rule, who recently died of cancer.
Anyone interested in making a cash donation can do so at the Kendall State Bank or by calling (913) 886-2032.
To make a nonperishable food item donation or for more information, call the same number or visit the Operation Kick Me Out of My Bedroom Facebook page.
