Due to the expected size and scope of the approaching winter storm, Kansas has activated the State Emergency Operations Center.
It opened at 8:30 Wednesday morning and will remain open, 24-hours a day, until further notice.
Staffed by members of the Kansas Department of Emergency Management, the EOC will remain in contact with county emergency managers, remaining ready to provide assistance to local authorities if needed.
Representatives from key state agencies are also in place at the EOC to coordinate state emergency response if it becomes necessary.
