( KNZA )-The Brown County Commission has approved the purchase of a new loader backhoe for the county transfer station.
The commission today ( Tuesday ) approved the purchase of the machine from Victor L. Phillips of Topeka for a total cost of $78,873.
The loader backhoe is from the company’s rental fleet.
Insurance proceeds will cover $44,500 of the cost. The machine replaces the loader backhoe damaged in a recent accident at the transfer station.
In other business, Commissioners accepted a quote from the Waldinger Corporation in St. Joseph to replace the air handler on the second floor of the courthouse at a cost of $11,345.
Head custodian Buzz Siebenmorgen said the current air handler is about 30 years old and in need of replacement.
