( KMZA )-The Seneca Volunteer Fire Department presented their annual report to the City Council Wednesday evening.
New Fire Chief Allen Henry said the department responded to 68 calls last year---including 46 rural calls and 22 city limit calls.
Henry said Clete Kramer was elected as 1st assistant fire chief and Tom Scott as 2nd assistant.
In other business, Police Chief Brent Schulte presented two bids for the purchase of a new patrol truck.
The council accepted the low bid from Nemaha Valley Motors of Seneca for a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 crew cab pickup for $22,750.
The old pickup will go the Public Works Department.
Schulte also requested that the council add two new police positions to the city’s pay scale---the position of police sergeant and police investigator. The base pay for each position would be $1 more per hour than an officer’s pay. The council approved the changes.
And the Council also gave City Superintendent Brian Ruske approval to seek bids for a new street sweeper.
Ruske said the current machine, a 1996 model, is getting to old.
The city had budgeted for a new street sweeper last year, but didn’t budget enough for the cost of a new model.
