New Microloan Program for Farmers
01/25/2013

(KLZA) New and beginning farmers and ranchers in Nebraska now have an agricultural Microloan credit option to consider.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency has announced a new program to offer its customers a Microloan designed to help farmers and ranchers with credit needs of $35,000 or less.  The loan features a streamlined application and a simplified qualification process built to fit the needs of new and smaller producers.
Nemaha County Nebraska Farm Loan Manager says the offering will be more customer friendly than larger, more traditional loan programs.  Farms and ranches seeking smaller loans for start-up or operational needs no have a new tool to consider.
The Farm Service Agency provided nearly 187-million dollars in farm loan assistance to agricultural producers of all sizes in Nebraska in 2012.  1,141 operating loans accounted for the majority of the loans extended while farm ownership loans totaled 315.  64 percent of all FSA direct and guaranteed farm loans in 2012 were made to Nebraska beginning farmers and ranchers.
