Drought, Crop Insurance Among Concerns of Nebraska Farm Bureau
(KTNC) - Members of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Federation traveled to Nashville last week to attend this year’s national convention. Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson says crop insurance received a lot of attention. (play audio :24 “insurance program.”)
Another item on the agenda, Nelson says, was how Washington needs to get its fiscal house in order, with a big focus on government spending. (play audio :19 “raising taxes.”)
Nelson says they also discussed the drought and what could be done to help livestock producers struggling to feed their animals. He wants to make sure livestock producers are included in the next five year Farm Bill. (play audio :37 “feed availability.”)
Farm Bureau members will travel to Washington, D.C., this week to bring those issues to light when they talk with federal lawmakers.
