( KNZA )-Four Horton residents escaped serious injury in a single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Doniphan County being attributed to strong winds.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports 28-year-old Ashley Obbards was traveling north on K-120 about three miles south of Highland when her Kia Sedona crested a hill and was struck by a strong gust of wind. The wind pushed her vehicle into the west ditch where it struck an embankment.
Obbards and three passengers in her car were transported to the Hiawatha Community Hospital by private vehicle for treatment of possible injuries.
The passengers were identified as 7-year-old Adakis Moppin, 7-year-old Maelisa Moppin and 2-year-old William Moppin.
The Patrol says all the children were in proper child seats and Obbards was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident was reported around 11:45 Friday morning just south of 205th Road.
