Local Support Shown For Victims of Fire

(KNZA)--Communities come together after a Saint Joseph, Missouri family, with ties to the local area, loses everything in a house fire Wednesday. 

The McPike family is now in need of assistance and donations, especially clothing for two young children, with all their belongings lost in the blaze. 

Connie Kautz is active with the Whiting based non-profit organization, Kod-4-Kids, established in honor of her late son, Kody. 

She is acquainted with the McPike family through one of her children, and felt the need to help lend support(Play Audio) 

Kautz says any variety of items would be helpful as the family begins the long process of rebuilding their life(Play Audio) 

Kautz says anyone wanting to donate can call her, or get in touch with a separate contact, also connected to the McPike family, in Horton(Play Audio) 

KQ2 News reports that the fire broke out Wednesday morning, fully engulfing the home, in the 2200 block of Blackwell Road. 

Neighbors saw the fire, and called 911, shortly before 7:00, and then beat on the door to help get the McPike's to safety. 

The cause remains undetermined.   

Clothing items needed: 

*little boy size 12/14 shirts and 6.5-7 size shoes

*little girl size 3T or 4T and size 9 shoes

*junior size large shirts and size 9 jeans

*Along with the clothing, all other donations, including household items, are welcome.
