(KAIR) -- It’s been roughly two weeks since Atchison County has made a transition to a countywide ambulance service.
Previously, calls from the eastern half of the county were handled by Atchison Hospital while calls in the western half by the Atchison County Volunteer Ambulance squad.
In 2012, Atchison County Commissioners selected Holton-based Techs, Inc. to oversee the new service.
Techs Director Brett Teters was on hand last week at the countywide summit in Effingham, informing leaders on the transition.
Teters says there are two full-time ambulances and a paramedic first response vehicle. ( play audio )
The company also renovated the ambulance bay at the county headquarters in Effingham.
Teters then answered some questions from area leaders, among those was about how long it take for another ambulance to be staffed and ready when another one is out on a call...( continue audio )
Teters also said service will transport patients to the hospital of their choice, depending on their condition.
