(KTNC) - A proposed assisted living facility in Pawnee City continues to move toward reality. Pawnee City Development Corporation president Alan Richard updated the Pawnee City Council Monday night on the latest developments, as City Clerk Tammy Stephens explains. (play audio :21)
Stephens says the council also heard from John Wissler, who told the council that the assisted living facility is needed in Pawnee City.
The Pawnee City Council began the process of selling two parcels of city-owned land. The council voted to take sealed bids for the property at 131 G Street, and to sell property in the 1300 block of 5th Street, along with its contents, at auction.
The council discussed annexation Monday night. Council member John Dahlgren brought the proposition to the council of annexing land into the city, including C-J Foods and a couple residences.
Dahlgren said the city would increase its property tax collections if it annexed the land. Stephens says representatives from C-J Foods told the council they were not in favor of being annexed into the city. (play audio :31)
Two council members said they did not favor annexation, while Stephens says Councilman Charlie Hatfield said Pawnee City should focus attention on housing. (play audio :28)
Also Monday, the Pawnee City Council approved the final reading of three ordinances presented by the League of Municipalities as recommended by City Attorney Joe Stehlik.
And the council approved the appointment of John DeFreece to be a member of the P-C-D-C Citizen Advisory Board.
