(KNZA)--The search continues for the man believed to be connected to the Thursday night shooting in Mayetta that left 29-year-old Kevin Stanley dead.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse says the search is continuing for 22-year-old Lloyd Wabaunsee, upgraded now from person of interest to suspect in the fatal shooting.
He's believed to be accompanied by another individual, identified as Desiree Shopteese, but no word has been released on if, or how, Shopteese is connected to the shooting of Stanley. However, authorities do believe she may have a connection to last month's shooting death of two Topeka Police Officers, with Morse confirming that she was the fiance of David Tiscareno. He's the 22-year-old who was shot dead following a standoff with Topeka Police as they attempted to take him into custody for the shooting of the officers.
According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, Topeka Police are assisting Jackson County authorities in the search for Wabaunsee. The Mayetta Police Department and the KBI are also playing a role in the investigation.
Morse says that despite Wabaunsee remaining on the run, authorities have located the vehicle suspected to have been seen in the area of 206 James Street, in Mayetta, where the shooting took place.
The 1993 GMC pick-up, spotted in the area around the time the killing took place, is now in the custody of investigators.
Wabaunsee is described as a Native American standing 5 foot 9 and weighing 180 pounds.
He's believed to be armed with an automatic weapon, and is described as extremely dangerous. He is now listed on the Kansas Most Wanted list, meaning the United States Marshalls are added to the numerous law enforcement agencies seeking Wabaunsee's whereabouts.
