(KAIR) -- The local community is mourning the loss of Atchison County businessman Mark Bottorff who died, with three others, in a Friday plane crash.
Also killed were well known Hiawatha businessman Ken Babcock, president of Babcock Sales, Jason Drane, manager at Babcock Sales and Chris Nelsen, a salesman for Scott-Hourigan Company of York, Nebraska.
Friday evening, as word of the crash began to trickle in across the region, Facebook pages began to bear messages remembering Bottorff, who founded Bottorff Construction in 1982. The Company has played a key role in numerous projects across the region since its founding, including streetscape projects in Atchison and Hiawatha, the construction of the dormitories for Benedictine College, and for laying the foundations both for Atchison's Super Wal-Mart and the Target store in Saint Joseph, Missouri's North Village.

Botoroff both owned and was flying the plane that went down east of North Platte, Nebraska Friday.
He was known for his love of flight, and owned a hangar at the Atchison County-based Amelia Earhart Airport.
