Address Compliance Being Reviewed In Horton
01/14/2013

(KNZA)--The City of Horton is reminding residents and businesses alike to make sure address numbers are properly in place, as required by city ordinance.

During the month of January, officials in the city will be inspecting properties within the city limits to make sure they are within compliance.

Address numbers should be on the front of a structure,  at least 3 ½ inches tall, in a color contrasting to the structure, and be visible from the street.

They should also be visible if if the residence or business is accessible from an alleyway.

Addresses that are spelled out do not comply, with numbers required to meet city code.

The reason for the ordinance is so that emergency responders can quickly find an address when needed.
