Richardson Co Commission Agrees to Waive Tax Interest Penalties in Some Cases

(KLZA)  Richardson County Commissioners approved a policy for the County Treasurer’s Office to correct or waive tax interest / penalties on issues that occurred before September 1, 2012 that are less than $100, when the error was in part caused by the County Treasurers office.  Any amount over $100 would require approval form the county Commissioners.  The corrections need to be made between January 1st and June 30th, 2013. 
 During the meeting with Treasurer Austin Duerfeldt, Commissioners approved opening accounts with American National Bank and Great Western Bank at a minimum of $250,000.  Applications to be County Depositories for 2013 were approved from State Bank of Table Rock, Humboldt Branch;  F & M Bank; American National Bank and Richardson County Bank & Trust.
 Eric Barr, Director of the Falls City Chamber of Commerce met with the Board  regarding parking on Stone Street downtown.  Commissioners agreed to send out a notice to employees requesting them to utilize the city parking lots instead of using the street parking around the Courthouse.  The Board will also be researching the possibilities of different options to provide parking for the employees away from the Courthouse. 
Board members approved the purchase of a pickup from the Nebraska Federal Surpluss Property.  A 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with nearly 80,000 miles will be purchased at a price of $15,900.
Commissioners took no action on an agreement for continued funding for Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise for 2013.  The request will continue to consider the agreement at 11:30 a-m on January 8th.
The Falls City Journal was designated as the official county newspaper and the mileage reimbursement rate for county officers and employees was increased to 56.5 cents per mile.
