SE Nebraska Woman Sentenced for Lying About Rape
A southeast Nebraska woman accused of lying about being raped has been sentenced to at least two years in prison.
Jennifer Valenta of Wilber was sentenced Wednesday in Gage County District Court to 32 to 60 months in prison. That means she could serve up to five years.
Valenta, who made a plea deal with prosecutors, pleaded no contest in November to evidence tampering, false reporting and attempted prostitution.
Valenta told authorities that four men raped her at the Big Indian Recreation Area in November 2011. Investigators later determined her injuries did not match a timeline of the alleged rape.
Valenta will be eligible for parole in 16 months.
