(KNZA)--The Kansas Highway Patrol has released its Christmas Weekend Activity Report which ran from 6:00 on the evening of December 21st through 11:59 Christmas night.
Four fatal crashes were worked during that time, with five people left dead in the wrecks. None were alcohol related. Last year during the same period the Patrol worked no fatal crashes.
Four DUI related crashes are reported, compared to three last year.
Twenty-one drivers were arrested for driving under the influence, down just one arrest from 2011.
The figures are proof positive of the Patrol's focus on seatbelt usage, even for adults, with 264 adults cited for not buckling up. That compares to 162 such citations last year.
