( KMZA )-Agreements are now in place with three of four property owners affected by the Branch Street extension project in Seneca.

City Administrator Tami Haverkamp says the Seneca City Council Wednesday evening approved two separate agreements connected with the street extension.

The first agreement was with Clint and Mary Tegtmeier, owners of Valentino’s Restaurant, for the purchase of right-of-way needed at a price of $44,488.

 The second agreement was with Brian and Carrie Schmitz and Joe Mitchell, co-owners of the Seneca Bowl, for the acquisition of easements needed for the street extension, which is in exchange for a piece of the tennis court property.

The city is still seeking needed tracts from Seneca Motel owner Dick Ayers of Casper, Wyoming.  An ordinance initiating condemnation proceedings was passed by the council in October.  

Haverkamp says a iniital hearing in the case was held this ( Thursday ) morning.  She says within the next week the District Court will appoint three appraisers, as per statute, and in the process of determining the value of the property will commence.

 In other business, the council approved the hiring of Scott Anson of Seneca as a police officer.  

Anson, who is certified, will begin work January 28th at starting salary of $14.50 an hour.
