Falls City Council Approves Requests for Special Designated Liquor Licenses
(KTNC) - The Falls City, City Council, approved two requests for special designated liquor licenses at Prichard Auditorium during Monday’s meeting.
One request was for the Northwest Fight Club event on January 12th. That request was approved on a 7-1 vote, with 2nd Ward Councilwoman Judy Murphy voting against it.
The second request was a to rent Prichard Auditorium for the Sacred Heart Booster Auction and Fun Night on February 23rd and to allow alcohol to be served. That request was approved 5-3, with council members Steve Scholl and Kirby Roubidoux joining Murphy in voting against the request.

The vote on a request for a special designated liquor license at Prichard Auditorium for the Sacred Heart Booster Auction and Fun Night was also approved 5-3.
In other business, the council approved a recommendation from the Board of Public Works to spend $42,000 to have Olsson Associates develop an Electrical System Master Plan of the city. Utility Superintendent Alan Romine said that’s something that’s been in the planning stages for more than five years. (play audio :52)
The contract was approved unanimously. Also approved unanimously was a request to allow used cars to be sold at 817 Stone Street.
On a 7-1 vote, with Councilman Mike Dougherty dissenting, the council approved a request to provide the Chamber of Commerce funding request of $15,000.
As part of the Consent Agenda, the council approved the appointment of officers to the Falls City Volunteer Fire Department. Officers for the next year are Chief Kenny Simpson, First Assistant Matt Beer, and Second Assistant Jim Hall.
The Council also approved the appointment of Michael Moore to the Park Board.
Julie Bauman presented the fiscal year 2011-2012 Audit Report. She gave the city an unqualified opinion, which is the best opinion possible. She said Falls City had a “good financial year.”
During his report, Mayor Tim Hersh presented Mike Moore and Hal Sutter with plaques recognizing their years of service on the City Council. Neither sought reelection in November’s general election.
