(KNZA)--Saint Joseph, Missouri police identify the body found last week in the debris of a garage fire; and, at the same time, they seek help from the public regarding details related to the incident.
The official cause of death for 53-year-old Richard Dean Travis is smoke inhalation, but KQ2 News says the investigation is continuing
The body of Travis was discovered Thursday by a crew hauling trash.
The discovery came six days after the garage, at 2015 Union Street, burned down, with Travis's body among the debris.
There were no signs of anyone inside the garage when fire crews responded, but neighbors say people had recently been spotted in the area.
Police are hoping for more information pertaining to how, and why, Travis was in the garage, with tipsters encourage to call 816-271-4777.
