(KAIR) -- A 74-year-old Atchison man originally facing a more severe child sex charge pleads guilty an amended count Thursday in Atchison County District Court.
Norman Longbrake pled guilty to lewd and lascivious behavior with a child, a level eight felony.
Originally, he was charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
In addition, Longbrake pled guilty to aggravated intimidation of a witness, a level six felony.
He was arrested in January by Atchison Police for having unlawful sexual conduct with a nine-year-old girl.
In April while in custody, he offered to buy his son a new vehicle if he agreed to not testify in the case.
In June, Longbrake was sent to Larned State Hospital for a competency evaluation.
He was later found competent to stand trial.
Sentencing is scheduled for January 4th.
He could face seven to 23 months in prison for the child relations charge and 17 to 46 months for the intimidation of a witness charge.
