Bids Accepted for Brown & Nemaha Co Highway Projects

( KNZA )-The Kansas Department of Transportation has accepted bids for several state highway construction and maintenance projects in Brown and Nemaha Counties.

They include three projects in Brown County.

Halls Brothers Inc. of Marysville was awarded the contract to overlay a nearly 14 mile stretch of U.S. 36 from the Brown/Nemaha County line east to Hiawatha at cost of more than $1.6 million.

Bettis Asphalt and Construction Inc. of Topeka was the successful bidder on an asphalt paving project on a 10-mile stretch of K-20 from the U.S. 75 junction east to Horton at cost of more than $927,000.

Vance Brothers Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri was awarded the contract to seal a nearly 5 mile stretch of K-246 at a cost of nearly $212,000.

In Nemaha County, a bid was accepted from Hall Brothers Inc. of Marysville to overlay more than 16 miles of state highways in the county at a cost of more than $1.8 million. They include stretches of K-63, K-9, K-178 and K-236.

Bids were opened in Topeka on November 14th.
