Nebraska Launches Substance Abuse Program
(KTNC) - Nebraska state officials have released a plan to reduce substance abuse in the state by concentrating on local efforts.
State Director of the Behavioral Health Division, Scot Adams, says that if Nebraska is to halt substance abuse, Nebraskans need to understand the problem. (play audio :12 “binge drinking.”)
Adams says the state plan will provide money to the six behavioral health regions, which will work with local coordinators to target specific problems in their areas.
As an example, Adams cites the work done in the University of Nebraska-Kearney area to crack down on underage drinking. (play audio :22 “every time.”)
Adams says money distributed to the state’s six behavioral health regions will go to help local communities address their problems. (play audio :18 “substance abuse effects.”)
Adams says Nebraska also wants to keep prescription drug abuse from becoming a problem here. (play audio :22 “state of Nebraska.”)
