(KAIR) -- A major explosion was averted Monday night at an Atchison County property west of Atchison near Shannon Industrial Park.
Around 15 firefighters from Shannon Township and Lancaster responded to a shop fully engulfed in flames on Meade Road just after 10.
Upon arrival, crews noticed a pickup and RV parked right next to the shop.
According to Shannon Fire Chief Spider Shell, crews took caution and cooled down the RV before moving it, which had a 70 gallon propane tank attached to it.
Crews also salvaged the pickup but the shop was a total loss when they were able to put out the fire about two hours later.
Shell says the incident remains under investigation but is believed to either been caused by a deficient wood stove or a spark from welding that ignited the shed.
