(KLZA) A 27-year-old Falls City man is facing multiple charges following what began as a motorist assistance check by Richardson County Sheriff Randy Houser.
It happened on Highway 159 near Preston last Friday afternoon.
Sheriff Houser observed a pickup facing east on the shoulder of the highway. He recognized the driver as Kyle Wissler, who was alone in the pickup, and was driving with a suspended license which led the Sheriff to place him under arrest.
While doing a photographic inventory of the pickup the Sheriff discovered two knives, one of which had a blade of more than 4-inches in length. Also discovered was a quantity of hypodermic syringes which were bundled together with a tablespoon. A number of tools including a reciprocating saw with a blade designed to cut metal was discovered in the bed of the pickup as well as two automotive batteries.
A recent investigation led the Sheriff to believe Wissler was involved in the theft of John Deere equipment batteries near Verdon. A review of Wissler's criminal history also revealed several prior felony convictions.
Wissler was placed in the Richardson County Jail on preliminary charges including a class III felony charge of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person; Possession of burglars tools, a class IV felony; Possession of drug paraphernalia; operating a motor vehicle during period of suspension and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.
