( KNZA )--Jackson Heights High School’s fifth Honor Flight trip to Washington, D.C. for veterans will take place on Wednesday.
Six World War II veterans and 19 Korean Conflict veterans will be joined by 17 Jackson Heights student guardians as they take a one-day trip to see the World War II Memorial in D.C. The trip also includes stops at the Korean, Vietnam and Lincoln memorials.
This is the first time the Jackson Heights Honor Flight is taking Korean vets on the trip.
The Honor Flight is made possible by fundraisers and contributions from many individuals. There is no charge to participants.
Jackson Heights sponsored its first Honor Flight in April 2009 and since then has helped 118 World War II veterans participate in this memorable experience.
A team of staff and medical personnel accompanies the students and veterans.
