( KNZA )--The Jackson County Commission is considering charging a fee for firework stands set up in rural areas of the county.
The commission discussed the issue this week.
Commissioner Larry Fenske said he wants to charge a $250 fee per stand, which could be waived for not-for-profit groups.
Fenske said his main concern is liability if there is a fire due to the fireworks merchandise.
His fellow commissioners agreed to have County Counselor Alex Morrissey draft a resolution for their review establishing a fee for firework stands outside city limits.
