(KLZA) The unemployment rate in Nebraska remained steady at 4 percent for the month of August.
The unemployment rate in extreme Southeast Nebraska fell during the month.
Nemaha County, Nebraska has the highest unemployment rate in the area at 5.8 percent, which is the third highest rate in the state. Even at that figure, Nemaha County had a drop in unemployment of 1 percent for the month.
Richardson County has the second highest unemployment rate in the area at 5.1 percent, a decline of 8-tenths of a percent from July.
Elsewhere Pawnee County had an unemployment rate of 2.7 percent in August, that is the best rate in the area and was a decrease of 9-tenths of a percent for the month.
In Johnson County the rate for August was 3.5 percent down 6-tenths. In Otoe County the 4 percent rate was down 4 tenths. Gage County had the biggest decrease in unemployment, the 4.6 percent rate for August was down 1.5 percent from July.
