(KTNC) - The drivers of two vehicles were injured, and one faces criminal charges, following a Tuesday afternoon accident near Mound City.
The accident happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 59, three miles east of Mound City. The Missouri State Patrol says 39-year-old David White of Craig was driving a 1994 Cadillac south on Neptune Road, and was attempting to turn west onto Highway 59.
Authorities say White failed to stop at the intersection and turned in front of an eastbound pick-up being driven by 63-year-old Larry Rowlett of Maitland. The force of the collision sent Rowlett’s pickup into the ditch, while White’s car came to rest on the southbound lane of the highway.
White was transported by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center with what were described as moderate injuries. Rowlett was taken by helicopter to the hospital in St. Joseph with serious injuries.
White faces several charges following the accident, including a felony count of second-degree assault, and misdemeanor counts of DWI – drug intoxication, and Careless and Imprudent driving involving an accident.
