( KNZA )--The Jackson County Commission has adopted a 2013 budget of nearly $13.3 million that calls for no change in the property tax levy.
The commission took the action Monday after approving two changes.
The commission reduced the requests of the Conservation District and Kanza Mental Health back to their 2012 funding levels. Funding from the reductions, more than 36-hundred dollars, was then placed in the county general miscellaneous fund.
The commission denied an additional funding request of $4,000 from the Holton/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce to be the local contact for economic development. The Chamber is currently receiving $6,000 to be the local contact.
The commission also denied an additional funding request from the Jackson County Historical Society to reinstate the 3 percent previous budget cut. The Historical Society will receive $2,910 next year out of the Parks and Recreation fund.
And the commission denied a request from the Historical Society for partial payment of the brick sidewalk at the corner of 4th and New York in Holton.
In other business, the commission adopted a resolution vacating an about three-quarter mile portion of 238th Road lying between C and D Roads.
Also the commission signed a resolution that establishes a stop sign at the intersection of O and 246th Roads.
