(KAIR) -- The annual “Pops” Concert at Benedictine College is coming this weekend as part of the school’s traditional Family Weekend festivities.
The Benedictine College Music Department will present the popular show on Saturday, September 22, with two performances: 6:30 & 8:00 p.m. in O'Malley-McAllister Auditorium in Atchison.
The theme for this year’s program is "Favorites from Musicals” and will include selections from Les Miserables, Lion King, Jersey Boys, Grease, and Newsies performed by the Benedictine College Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers.
Dr. Ruth Krusemark is the director of both choral groups.
The admission cost is $2 for adults and $1 for students (5 -17).
The second show is an encore performance to alleviate the crowd.
Family Weekend will also include the presentation of the Benedictine Family Award to the Leo and Mary Landon Family, who have sent 25 students through Benedictine College and its founding institutions over four generations.
That award will be presented at halftime of the Raven football game against Peru State, set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Prior to the game, the college will honor Frank O’Malley and the O’Malley Family by naming the football field “O’Malley Field.”
