( KNZA )- A young Atchison man will be sentenced later this month after a Doniphan County jury finds him guilty on charges in an officer assault case.
19-year-old Antonio Clayter was recently found guilty on five charges—including aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer.
He’s scheduled to be sentenced September 26th.
Clayter was convicted of assaulting Highland police officer Arthur Buckingham while he was attempting to arrest him on March 6th in a dorm room on the Highland Community College campus. Buckingham was hospitalized after suffering a fractured left shoulder.
Clayter’s attorney has filed a motion for a new trial.
He was among three people charged in the case.
