(KTNC) - The Auburn City Council tabled action on the 2012-13 Budget when they met Monday night.
Mayor Scott Kudrna says the council spent considerable time discussing how the city could pay to pave S Street – which runs near the bowling alley and recreation center.
The mayor says residents in that area do not want to form a paving district, and the street is not eligible for “gap paving,” so he says the city may have to find other ways to pay to pave that street.
He says the city may consider using 290-thousand dollars they get in state highway allocation, combined with 50-thousand dollars in sales tax revenue to pay for the project, which estimated to cost approximately 400-thousand dollars.
Mayor Kudrna says the proposed city budget is balanced. He highlights some of the other items included in the documentt. (play audio :30)
The budget also includes 10-thousand dollars for garage doors for the Fire Department, 20-thousand for a fire truck reserve fund, and 10-thousand for repairs at the swimming pool, though Mayor Kudrna says there are questions as to how much those repairs will cost. (play audio :21)
There are other improvements and projects that will be funded as well. (play audio :40)
On a related note, Mayor Kudrna says the City of Auburn currently has nearly 37-thousand dollars in KENO funds that can be used for community betterment projects, and they expect to add about 16-thousand more to that by the end of the year.
The Auburn City Council will consider the budget again at six o’clock Friday evening.
