Nemaha Co Ks Commission Approves Truck Purchase

( KMZA )-- The Nemaha County ( Ks ) Solid Waste Department will be getting a new truck.

On the recommendation of Solid Waste Supervisor Dennis Ronnebaum the county commission Tuesday approved the purchase of a 2013 Kenworth T800 truck from MHC Kenworth of St. Joseph for $106,659.

The commission also approved the purchase of a roll off hoist from American Equipment Company of St. Joseph for $27,910.

In other business, Sheriff Rich Vernon informed commissioners that they are working on getting the new electronic fingerprint system up and running.

Vernon said they will need to do some renovation at the county law enforcement center in order to accommodate the new system.  He said that countertop space and shelving would need to be added.

Vernon also informed commissioners that the Annual Fun Day sponsored by the Reserve officers will be held on September 30th at the Nemaha County Community building in Seneca.  Commissioners approved appropriating $500 for the event from the commissioners fund.

And the commission accept the written resignation of Mark Winkler as the Granada township treasurer.  On the recommendation of the township board, the commission voted to appoint Al Keehn to finish Winkler’s term
