The Peru State College volleyball team split a pair of matches in a triangular at Dakota State University this past weekend.
The Bobcats picked up their first win of the season when they swept Waldorf College in three games (25-21, 25-22, 25-18) in their opening match of the tournament.
Brittany Peterson and Carrie Lierz led a balanced Peru State attack with seven kills each in the match.
The Bobcats followed their victory with a close loss to Dakota State. The tournament hosts prevailed in five sets (25-21, 22-15, 25-20, 20-15, 17-15).
Tara Gonzales paced the Bobcat offense with 16 kills, and Peterson added 11 kills.
The split of the two matches gives the Bobcats a 1-5 record.
Peru State opens conference play today (Tuesday) when they travel to Marshal, Missouri to take on Missouri Valley College. The Bobcats play in the Quality Inn Classic Tournament at Hastings College this weekend.
