(Falls City) - Doane College men’s basketball coach Jim Weeks is taking his team on the road to play basketball in each of Nebraska’s 93 counties over the Labor Day weekend.
The team came through this area Thursday on the first day of the whirlwind trip. Coach Weeks, who is entering his first year at Doane, explains the purpose behind the idea. (play audio :22)
There are two groups of Doane players touring the state. Weeks says they hope to build on team skills and get the word out about Doane basketball and the college. (play audio :11)
Weeks says they have a goal of scoring 100,000 points and making 2,500 three-point baskets during the trip. Stops Thursday included Auburn, Falls City, Pawnee City, and Beatrice.
