Nemaha Co. Ks Agrees to Setback Requirements for Wind Turbines
( KMZA )-- Nemaha County ( Ks ) will establish setbacks requirements for wind turbines built in the county.
County commissioners agreed Monday to have the county attorney draw up a resolution requiring that wind turbines be located three thousand feet from homes and 15-hundred feet from property lines.
A group of residents in the northeast portion of the county had requested that the county establish setback requirements, concerned about the noise a proposed wind farm in the area would create.
Group spokeswoman, Melissa Detweiler, said they are pleased with the commission's decision...( play audio )
In other business, commissioners opened bids for the purchase of a new truck for the county solid waste department.
Five bids were received, however no decision was made.
The commission will hold a special meeting at 9 o’clock Wednesday morning to work on preparing the county’s 2013 budget.
