(KAIR) -- What was an arrest for a failure to appear for a fine review became much more serious after booking for a 19-year-old Atchison man.
Casey Crawford was booked on Tuesday for the failure to appear charge.
According to Atchison County District Court documents, on Wednesday, an altercation occurred where Crawford allegedly kicked a correctional officer in the groin, causing serious injury.
As a result, Crawford was given the charge of battery of a correctional officer, a level five felony.
Bond was set at 25 thousand dollars on that charge, as well as 25 hundred dollars on the failure to appear count.
Crawford made his first appearance on the new count Friday in Atchison County Court and will make his next appearance August 31st.
He remains in Atchison County Jail.
