High school fall sports season has gotten underway and for one area Kanzaland school girls tennis squad its started on a pretty successful note.
Sabetha Bluejays girls tennis team participated in the Wamego tournament, yesterday, along with Topeka High, Wamego, Atchison and Wabaunsee. The Bluejays had a great first tournament to the season as they finished overall as a team in second place and took home individually a first and a second place and in doubles action took home a second and third place.
In the second grouping of singles, it was Bluejay, Kyla Parton cruising her way to the individual first place finish going a perfect 4-0 in competition. The first grouping of singles competition featured another Bluejay in the championship match as Jennifer Stallbaumer made it their; she fell in the first place match giving her second place in the grouping and a 3-1 record at the tournament.
Doubles action was successful for the Bluejays, also as Alison and Andrea Rogenkamp finished 3-1 in the doubles second grouping, which was good for second place. While Amy Wysong and Ellie Montgomery took third place in the doubles first grouping with a 2-2 record.
Topeka High took first place overall with 34 total, to Sabetha's 28, with host Wamego finishing third with 22 total points.
