Unclaimed Property Booth At Nebraska State Fair
(KLZA) Unclaimed Property specialists from the Nebraska State Treasurer’s Office will be available at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island, Aug. 24-Sept. 3, to help Nebraskans search and file claims for money they didn’t know they were owed.
The Unclaimed Property booth will be located in the Exhibition Building. Visitors will be able to search the State Treasurer’s database, as well as a printed list by county, for their names and the names of their businesses, family members, and friends.
The Nebraska Educational Savings Trust (NEST), another division of the State Treasurer’s Office, will host a booth next to the Unclaimed Property booth.
In all, the Treasurer’s Office holds more than $100 million of unclaimed property for more than 350,000 Nebraskans or former Nebraskans. The property is held by the state indefinitely until the rightful owners or heirs are located.
Nebraskans can check at their convenience for unclaimed property at the Treasurer’s Office website, www.treasurer.org, by typing their names in the search box on the home page.
