(KLZA) Richardson County Commissioners awarded a bid for the armor coating of 6.2 miles of the “Dustless Highway” located east and north of Falls City; 6-tenths of a mile of a road in Preston and 6.2 miles of the “Rulo Road” south of Rulo when they met Tuesday. STA-BILT Construction was awarded the bid in the amount of $323,621.
A$45,000 lump sum contract with Speece-Lewis Engineers for a bridge northwest of Humboldt was considered. The contract will be discussed further.
The Board also approved resolutions approving supplemental program agreements concerning the Preston Road hard surfacing project.
Two bids were received for asphalt overlay projects in Richardson County. Bids were received from Constructors Incorporated and Dobson Brothers. The bids are being held for further review.
A contract renewal was approved to have the Pritchard & Abbott firm perform appraisal/assessment services of oil and gas production equipment in Richardson County.
In other business Commissioners accepted a grant award and special conditions in the amount of $17,890 from the Nebraska Crime Commission with local matching funds of $7,155 for the 4-County Mentoring Program administered by Heartland Big Brothers / Big Sisters.
The Board also voted to appoint special legal counsel for the County for the matters involving Consolidated Grain and Barge Company. The company is interested in building a large grain handling facility on the south edge of Falls City.
Commissioners spent a majority of their afternoon reviewing budgets with various county officials.
