(KLZA) Richardson County Treasurer Connie Kennedy notified the Board of Commissioners Tuesday of her intentions or resigning her position as Treasurer. The Board took no action on the resignation as they had nothing in writing.
Connie Kennedy was appointed Treasurer following the death of County Treasurer Sherry Huppert.
Commissioners approved a resolution setting the tax levy allocation for rural fire districts and the Agricultural Society for the tax year 2012 at 2- one hundredths of a cent.
A brief discussion was held concerning the proposed fiscal year 2012-13 budget. Last week the proposed budget was presented to the Board with total expenditures of $12,230,050 which is a proposed increase of nearly $324,000 or 2.7 percent. If approved as proposed that would increase the tax levy by 5.6 cents per $100 of assessed valuation or 13 percent.
Commissioners will hold hearings on the budget requests with department officials beginning next week. Commissioners Bill Ely and David Sickel both indicated during the meeting they do not expect the final budget to include such large increases. Commissioner Jim Davidson was absent from the meeting.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert informed Commissioners the Bridge Crew will be working on a bridge on 710 Road between 652 and 653 Avenue with the road to be closed for approximately three weeks.
