(KLZA) Tuesday was primary election day in Missouri. In Holt County on the Democratic Primary David Carroll defeated incumbent Don Holstine in the Second District Commission race 110 – 57. There was not a Republican running for the position.
In the First District Commission race on the Republican ticket incumbent Bill Gordon defeated challenger Michael Freeman 461 – 138.
In the Republican race for Sheriff in Holt County incumbent Scott Wedlock received 573 votes, challengers David Trauernicht received 316 votes and former Sheriff Kirby Felumb received 307 votes. No Democrats sought the nomination.
The Assessors race was very close with LaDonna Jones defeating Julie Mcully 583 – 559. There were no Democrats in the race.
In Atchison County Missouri elections Tuesday Richard Burke defeated Jack Vernon in the Democratic Southern District commission race 151 – 104. Alva Stoner outpolled four others to win the Republican nomination. Stoner received 172 votes, second was Britt Harmon with 138, Dale Dickkut received 100, Tim Taylor 61 and Brian Tharp 32. Incumbent Kent Fisher did not seek another term in office.
In Tarkio voters turned down a local use tax proposal 126 to 122. In Fairfax a local use tax was approved with 79 yes votes to 76 no votes.
In the 6th District Congressional race incumbent Republican Sam Graves, from Tarkio, won his primary election receiving 81 percent of the votes cast. In the general election Graves will face Democratic challenger Kyle Yarber of Gladstone who defeated three other Democrats for the nomination.
