Drought Discussion Forums Set at Two County Fairs
( KNZA )--The county fair – that come together time of year to look at 4-H project work, see neighbors, and maybe enjoy some concession stand food along the way. Its education and entertainment all rolled in to one!
Unfortunately, this year’s ‘hot topic’ may well be the drought stress conditions we are currently seeing. In an effort to answer some of the questions about the drought pertaining to livestock, field crops and landscape the Meadowlark Extension District is using the annual county fair as a venue for even more education this year. Two Drought Discussion Forums will be held, one at the Jackson County Fair in Holton, the other at the Jefferson County Fair in Valley Falls. The forum in Holton will be held from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1 at the show arena at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The forum in Valley Falls will follow the Bucket Calf Show just after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at the show arena on the Jefferson County 4-H Fairgrounds. If you have questions, please contact Jody Holthaus at the Meadowlark Extension District Office in Holton @ (785) 364-4125 or David Hallauer at the Meadowlark Extension District Office in Oskaloosa @ (785) 863-2212.
