( KLZA ) Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise has announced that Consolidated Grain and Barge, a company headquartered in Mandeville, Louisiana is planning to build a looped track grain shipment facility on the south edge of Falls City. Consolidated Grain and Barge owns and operates over 70 grain facilities across the Midwest with locations in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. According to the company website in addition to grain facilities, the company has sizable operations in logistics and transportation fertilizer, crop insurance, ag finance, soybean processing, producer risk management and other related businesses.
CGB has been in the grain and transportation industry since 1970 with modest beginnings in St. Louis with three employees. Today, CGB operates a global enterprise in more than 70 locations with more than 1,200 employees.
The company provides an array of services for grain farmers including financing and risk management to buying, storing, selling and shipping the crop.
CGB is privately held by four global companies providing opportunities to operate in the global marketplace.
The location of the project is west of the Highway 73 viaduct south of Falls City. Cromer says Falls City having two major railroads serving the community was a major benefit. ( play audio :22 seconds )

As with most new projects most of the details have not been revealed at this time.
